Carlo Ancelotti revealed that Real Madrid was a potential weak connection in the line -up of Manchester City during the Champions League -Clash on Tuesday evening.
Madrid sealed a dramatic late victory in the Etihad Stadium and scored twice in the final phase after it looked as if the city had done enough when Erling Haaland changed an 80th minute.
Ederson had a mixed performance in the city destination. After a series of parades before he adopted the ball in the building of Brahim Diaz on Madrid’s equalizer and was then stranded as Vinicius Junior Lob in no-man land, Jude Bellingham was submitted.
In the hope that mistakes would offer chances, Everson was part of the plan.
“We searched for Pressing High when Ederson had the ball and to fall on a mid-block when he didn’t, the strikers came in and our midfielder didn’t want to push,” said Ancelotti.
After Everson had been pressed, he decided to kick for a long time when Madrid was looking for a level, which led to the visitors back in midfield and scored a goal.
Pep Guardiola tried to defend his goalkeeper’s decision and insisted that the city could have lost the ball alike if he had decided briefly instead.
“Eddy decided to play a long ball, it was not a good kick and they scored,” twitched Guardiola. “Maybe we played briefly and they achieved and you say long game. The players are making a decision at the moment – sometimes it works, sometimes not, but today it is not, it has happened many times.”
