Casemiro in line for Cristiano Ronaldo reunion with Manchester United happy to take hit on Saud-linked midfielder

Casemiro could be the latest star player to move from Europe to Saudi Arabia and Manchester United are ready to cash in on the midfielder, according to The Pitch Prospect.

The 32-year-old endured a mediocre second season at Old Trafford following his £60 million move from Real Madrid in 2022.

His lack of consistency resulted in the Red Devils finishing eighth in the Premier League – and him not being included in Brazil’s squad for the Copa America.

And now he could be set for a new adventure in the Middle East, with United believed to be happy to have him off the payroll.

The Pitch Prospect told you in February that new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was ready to deal a major blow to the five-time Champions League winners.

It is believed that he would cost around £25-30 million including potential bonuses – a huge discount on the £60 million they paid for him just two years ago.

In May, we also reported that Casemiro was being targeted by Saudi clubs and that a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr was imminent.

A move to his former teammate at Real remains possible, as Luis Castro’s team is one of two serious options.

One is current top-flight champions Al Ittihad, where he would be reunited with another Blancos legend, Karim Benzema, and fellow countryman Fabinho, as well as French maestro N’Golo Kante.

Meanwhile, Al-Qadsiah, Al Ahli and Al Hilal have expressed interest in Casemiro in the past.

John Murtough, who recently resigned as United’s sporting director after eleven years, visited the Gulf state in January and held talks about Casemiro’s possible departure.

It remains to be seen whether Casemiro would welcome a move to Saudi Arabia.

It is expected that he will hold talks with boss Erik ten Hag by the end of the month to discuss his future.

However, if he signals his willingness to move, offers could quickly come in for the player.

This is because the Saudi transfer window opens on July 17 and clubs are once again trying to outdo European teams in the transfer market as quickly as possible.
