Chelsea keen on Man Utd’s Alejandro Garnacho and Bundesliga duo

Chelsea are reportedly interested in Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.

20-year-old Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford is becoming increasingly uncertain after it was revealed that no player at United was considered untouchable before the squad was rebuilt under Ruben Amorim.

Napoli have shown the strongest interest in Garnacho and hope the Argentine will replace the departed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, but an initial approach was rejected by United. The Red Devils are not actively trying to sell Garnacho, and certainly not for the suggested figure of £40m.

The Telegraph report that United are ready to hold their own in negotiations for Garnacho, who played the full 90 minutes of Thursday’s 3-1 comeback win over Southampton, and will not agree a discount or deal with any interested party will consider trading players they don’t really want.

Chelsea are understood to be eyeing not only Garnacho, but also Borussia Dortmund winger Gittens, who is enjoying a good individual season despite the Bundesliga giants’ struggles, and talented Bayern Munich striker Tel, who faces tough competition for a starting position in Bavaria.

Gittens, 20, has scored 11 goals in all competitions for Dortmund, including seven in the Bundesliga, and is another player who left Manchester City’s academy as a 15-year-old to continue his football education in Germany. Tel has yet to score a goal for Bayern this season, but scored ten goals in the 2023/24 season.

Gittens’ Dortmund teammate Karim Adeyemi is another player of interest to Chelsea, although he is seen as a late loan option if other moves do not pan out.

Concerns over Garnacho’s temperament could stop Chelsea and Napoli from committing to a high-value transfer – the tricky inside forward was previously left out of United’s squad for the Manchester derby due to concerns about his performances in training – and it hasn’t yet revealed how he would feel about a trip to Old Trafford.

Garnacho has been accused on social media of leaking United’s squad list before games, which appears to have affected his relationship with the club’s fans. Despite these off-field issues, he continues to be a key figure in United’s team and his absence from the visit of Manchester City remains the only Premier League game he has missed this season.
