Chelsea leave Conor Gallagher and two other wantaway players off matchday programme in latest snub

Chelsea have dropped three players from their matchday squad.

Conor Gallagher, Armando Broja and Romelu Lukaku were all left out of the long squad list on the back of the brochure for the game against Man City.

The trio are looking to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and have been excluded from all first-team activities.

Chelsea attribute this to the fact that the three were not assigned squad numbers for this season.

Broja’s number 19 was given to new signing Pedro Neto, while Gallagher [23] and Lukaku [9] has never had anyone take it.

Trevoh Chalobah, who was also banned along with the trio, will continue to be listed as he was given the number 14 jersey.

Gallagher has been with the club since he was eight years old and was even captain of the team several times last season.

Although Chelsea offered him new terms, the England international was unhappy with the two-year contract offered – compared to the long-term contracts offered to his teammates.

At the beginning of the transfer window, a transfer offer from Aston Villa was accepted, but he turned it down.

The Blues then accepted a transfer offer from Atletico Madrid worth around £35 million, but uncertainty remained over the move.

He flew to Madrid to complete the deal, but it was held up as the two clubs continue to negotiate a separate transfer for Joao Felix.

Gallagher flew back to the UK and continues to train outside the first team.

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes it would be a big mistake for Chelsea to let him go.

Reacting to the news that Atletico’s transfer offer had been accepted, the The Pitch Prospect co-host said: “I think it’s a disgrace. They’re letting him go.”

“He is captain of the football club, works hard and loves the team.

Maresca has left his mark on Chelsea.

“Everyone likes him and he gives his all on the football pitch. You never see him missing from the football pitch.

“What he lacks in quality he makes up for with heart and enthusiasm.

“I think they are making a mistake by getting rid of players like that.”

Broja is being courted by Ipswich and has several options for his next step.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Napoli are negotiating a transfer for Romelu Lukaku and could involve him in a transfer for Victor Osimhen.
