Chelsea make Conor Gallagher demands known as Aston Villa and Tottenham circle

As The Pitch Prospect has learned, Chelsea are demanding a transfer fee of over £50 million to sell Conor Gallagher this summer.

And this despite the fact that the 24-year-old’s contract at Stamford Bridge only has one year left to run.

English midfielder Gallagher is attracting interest from clubs such as Aston Villa and Tottenham.

The Blues are willing to monetize the academy graduates to raise funds for profit and sustainability.

Spurs have maintained their interest in Gallagher after failing to pluck him from Chelsea in the winter transfer window.

However, they were put off by Chelsea’s £50 million valuation – which they have maintained after an impressive 2023/24 season.

But as The Pitch Prospect reported in April, the West Londoners have still not offered their academy graduates new contract terms.

Villa have now identified Gallagher as a serious target to strengthen their squad ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.

For the “Villans” it is the first time they have toured Europe since 2010 – and for the first time in 41 years in Europe’s most important competition.

The former Crystal Palace loanee developed into one of the most important players under Mauricio Pochettino.

No other player made more appearances in all competitions than Gallagher (50), in which he contributed seven goals and nine assists.

Chelsea fans expressed their opinion on Gallagher’s future by unveiling a giant banner of him on the club’s latest third shirt.

And club legend Joe Cole has stressed to club owners that they cannot part with the Three Lions star, while he raved about his abilities.

He told The Pitch Prospect: “If I was sitting in front of the owners, I would tell them that Conor is arguably the most important player in the dressing room because of his contribution to the club. He understands the club.”

“And that’s before you talk about his performance on the pitch. I think everyone has played really well in the last 56 games. Everyone has played well.”

“Players coming off the bench affect the game, but in the difficult times you see what our players were really worth and you know when things are not going well.”

“And Conor was always available, pushing his team, staying serious and staying on the ball.

“I think it’s vital for the club to keep him. I don’t understand the financial side of it.”

“I know there are advantages to selling players from the academy, but I have to admit that I don’t understand that side of the matter.

“But from a purely footballing point of view, he is one of the three most important players in the dressing room.”
