Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that midfielder Romeo Lavia has suffered a freshness Injury Breaks that sends him back to the sidelines.
Lavia returned from a thigh injury to play the 1-0 defeat of Chelsea against Arsenal before the international break for the last eight minutes in his third appearance of 2025 and his 13th in all competitions this season.
Unfortunately, Lavia has returned to the treatment table after picking up a problem in training before the Premier League conflict on Thursday with Tottenham Hotspur.
“He felt better with regard to progress, but unfortunately he had a little problem a day ago,” revealed Maresca. “So we will see in the next few hours.”
The injuries have been a big problem for a first 53 million GBP for Lavia since moving to Chelsea in 2023. The 21-year-old arrived unsuitable and suffered a whole series of injury issues that limited him to just one appearance and 32 minutes of the Premier League campaign in his debut campaign.
Lavia started the opening game of the 2024/25 campaign before he had a Hamstring problem, and two other discussions have limited him to just 596 minutes in all competitions this season.
Fortunately, there were some positive news from Maresca, who confirmed that Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke are back next to the returning Cole Palmer.
“Cole is back, he is okay, he is better, Noni is better, Nico is better and yes, they are all good,” said Maresca.
