Ajax director Marijn Beuker has confirmed the interest of the eredivisia on the side of the earth signing Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The 33-year-old Eriksen, who started his senior career at Ajax, will probably leave United this summer after he was only fighting for minutes under the new head coach Ruben Amorim. Since his contract expires at the end of the season, a decision will soon have to be made.
Eriksen recently confessed that he would not expect a new contract and that the next step of his career is already in the Premier League.
A return to the Netherlands, which Eriksen itself has not excluded as an option, could be on the cards, as Beuker confirmed ESPN that the dane is examined from the club’s point of view.
“He is one of the players who in the past that we think about, was fantastic with us,” said Beuker. “Several others are mentioned in the media.
“Such players are always an option. To look at it, it has to fit into the phase in which we are in the salary structure. They don’t want to block young players either. We are open to think about it. Only it has to fit in the overall picture for the future.”
Eriksen has declared his willingness to stay in Europe, which excludes a move to Major League Soccer or a golden sunset contract in the Saudi Pro league.
His farewell to Old Trafford is expected to be part of an united advance advance at the costs and collect donations, whereby Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof should all be released if their contracts take place in summer.
With a new midfielder who is likely to be signed, United is said to have restored her interest in Sean Longstaff from Newcastle, who was associated in 2019 with a change of 50 million GBP to Old Trafford.
