Date for decision on Barcelona registration revealed

The President of the Spanish Football Council, the CSD, has confirmed that a decision on the registration of Barcelona by Dani Olmo will be made in the “next few days”.

Olmo is currently playing with an emergency license, which, after the rejection of the attempts by Barcelona, plays his initial temporary agreement – until December 31, 2024, after Andreas Christensens serious injury – until December 31, 2024 – to the second half of the season.

Barcelona argued that they had submitted the necessary documents in good time to extend Olmo’s license, but La Liga claimed something else, and as a player could not be registered again in the same season, Olmo was blocked by the game for the club.

What followed was a tense legal dispute in which Barcelona appealed directly to the government, the sports department of which ultimately decided that Olmo could play while a final judgment was discussed.

According to CSD President Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes, a final decision will be made “in the next few days”. The deadline for a decision is April 7th.

While several clubs have disappointed the decision to allow Olmo, who has seven goals and five templates in all competitions, to continue to represent Barcelona, it was recently claimed that the President of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, was actually an integral part of the extension of Olmo’s license.

“Football is sometimes very funny, they bring up strange things,” continued Uurridi. “According to some reports about Dani Olmo, Real Madrid seems to be enthusiastic.

“This is upside down, but what Real Madrid did was the decision of the CSD and I am very grateful for it. By the way, not only Real Madrid, but also 80% or 90% of the clubs understood it.”
