Denzel Dumfries remains Manchester United target as Inter Milan contract talks stall

Contract negotiations with Denzel Dumfries at Inter Milan have stalled and Manchester United are monitoring the situation.

The 28-year-old has a contract with the Serie A giants until 2025, but reports from Italy suggest there are no signs of an extension anytime soon.

The defender is said to demand a salary of £4.3million per year to stay at Inter Milan.

A report from Gazzetta Dello Sport also states that he would like a move to Old Trafford.

The Pitch Prospect understands Dumfries is a long-term target for Manchester United.

Inter Milan are believed to have attempted to complete a surprise swap deal between Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Dumfries in January.

However, the Red Devils rejected the approach.

A lot will depend on the future of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman is under increasing pressure after the 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Monday evening.

They are eighth and on course for their worst ever Premier League result.

They still have three league games left this season and then the FA Cup final against Man City.

A coaching change has been discussed, with Gareth Southgate and Thomas Tuchel said to be in the running.
