Reigning league champions Al-Ittihad are reportedly particularly interested in signing the six-time Premier League champions.
And Ederson, who has been at Man City since 2017, is reportedly open to the potential move, with the club expecting offers in excess of £30 million.
Amidst these ever-growing rumors, there was even more excitement after speculation arose that Man City’s goalkeeping situation could contribute to Ederson’s potential departure.
One article claimed that Ederson was “touched by the praise Stefan Ortega received last season” for saving a one-on-one shot against Tottenham’s Heung-min Son – a moment many fans considered crucial in City’s title race against Arsenal.
The report suggested that second goalkeeper Ortega had a good case to fill in for Ederson during his season-ending injury.
Ortega played a key role in Man City’s title fight. With his save in the penultimate game of the season, the German ensured that his club remained ahead and could win the title.
Some Man City fans had also suggested that the injured Ederson would not have been able to parry the ball.
But allegations that praise for Ortega may have influenced Ederson sparked a reaction from Ederson’s wife Lais Moraes.
Moraes responded on social media: “First get better information. This is total fake news.”
Man City boss Pep Guardiola has also not shed any light on the situation despite reports of Ederson’s possible departure.
