Manchester United’s “embarrassment” head coach Ruben Amorim questioned his future and indicated a potential exit if he does not change the “culture” of a team that drives away in the club’s great history.
United plumbed new depths with a 2-0 defeat against West Ham on Sunday afternoon. Amorim made six changes to the side, which sealed a place in the Europa League final next week, but was still able to call Leny Yoro, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.
Nevertheless, this dilapidated outfit, in order to record its 17th top -league defeat of the season in a sleeping manner -the highest balance since United was relegated in 1973/74 by the first division.
“I don’t want to talk about players,” Amorim sighed with the 16th place in the Premier League table. “I speak of myself and the culture in the club and the culture in the team. I have this feeling that we have to change that and we have to be really strong and brave in summer because we won’t have that next season.
“If we start like this or if the feeling is still here, we should give different people the room.”
Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who played a key role in both goals from West Ham, but was not put under pressure by any of his former teammates when Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen thankfully devoured two clear opportunities.
“For me, the greatest concern is the feeling that ‘it’s fine’, and ‘We can’t change our position so much, so it’s okay,” said Amorim. “This is the biggest problem in our club at this moment because we lose the feeling of We Are A Massive Club and lose the end of the world at home. I think that’s the biggest concern in our club.”
Amorim did not agree with the proposal that many United players already focus on the upcoming final of the Europa League against Tottenham Hotspur. The performance in this showpiece game is “the smallest problem” according to his own approval. The climbing of higher than 16 is a much greater concern for the Portuguese coach.
“How a manager of Manchester United should feel in this position – embarrassed and it is difficult to accept,” he smoked. “I think everyone has to think seriously about many things here. Everyone thinks about the final. The final is no problem in our club at this moment.
“We have bigger things to think and we have to change many things at the end of the season.”
Amorim, who will not be classified in the course of the challenges that expect the next season to lambast the final campaign, which is located on the club’s square since 1930/31. “Playing the Premier League and the Champions League for us is the moon,” he warned and thought of the competition for which they will qualify by winning the Europa League. “I’m not worried about the final. You [the players] Will be concentrated and I don’t know what is best when it plays Champions League or not. “
If United’s trigger, happy hierarchy listens to Amorim’s advice, this may not be affected much longer.
