Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca insisted that there is no striker who is better suited for his playing style than the current starter Nicolas Jackson.
The blues have been looking for a new striker for over a year and failed with a summer approach for Napolis Victor Osimhen last year, so Jackson could remain the start option for the 2024/25 season.
With nine goals and five templates for his name and a clear positive influence on team performance, Chelsea is said to have forced Chelsea to change their attitude when signing a striker. Instead of fighting on a new superstar, the plan is now to find a younger MP who can enter into with the Senegal international.
When asked what his perfect summer signing would be, Maresca insisted on it: “My perfect number 9 is exactly Nico Jackson. We already have a number 9. It’s not summer now.
“If we can have a copy of Nico, it is okay. I have already said with Nico, we are a better team. Nico is the one we need. Last season he scored goals without punishment. The striker of Ipswich Town Liam Delap is among those who are considered this summer. The 22-year-old, whose contract comprises a relegation publication clause of 30 million GBP, worked with Maresca in the Manchester City Academy and has again taken up the manager’s eye this season.
“He is fantastic in terms of numbers,” said Maresca about Delap. “I think he scored 12 points [Premier League] Goals.
