Borussia Dortmund have not lost hope of securing the services of exiled Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, with the Bundesliga club even considering a permanent move transfer according to a report in Germany.
Rashford has sat on the sidelines this winter amid an ever-increasing transfer storm. United coach Ruben Amorim has seemingly lost all confidence in the England international, who has not featured for his boyhood club since the Europa League away game against Viktoria Plzen on December 12th.
In the following month, Rashford captured the interest of the entire football landscape. Saudi Arabia’s forays have been shunned, while Spain – and Barcelona in particular – is considered the player’s dream destination. But one of Germany’s historic giants could offer Rashford the safe haven to rediscover his best form.
Dortmund first registered their interest at the beginning of January. Despite the striker’s high wages and advances from AC Milan and Barcelona, the frugal Bundesliga club is still seriously considering a move for the 27-year-old PICTURE.
The German publication claims that talks have begun between Dortmund and United and that the team, who sit 10th in the Bundesliga table at the halfway point of the season, are even discussing a permanent deal internally in a bid to put an end to what has been a disastrous season so far .
Rashford’s representatives are also believed to be pushing for a final sale, with a figure of around £40million suggested. While Milan and Barcelona have only been linked with six-month loan deals, Dortmund could have the funds to finance a full transfer following the departure of Donyell Malen.
The controversial Dutch striker was signed from Aston Villa on Tuesday for a fee of £19 million, freeing up some money and a place in the front line for Rashford, who is increasingly reluctant to venture elsewhere than his preferred role on the left wing.
