European giants could offer Antony loan route out of Man Utd

Several European clubs, including Greek giant Olympiacos, are interested signing Antony is reportedly on loan from Manchester United.

The 24-year-old has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford this season, playing just 84 minutes of Premier League football in six substitute appearances.

The appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach has done little to improve Antony’s standing in the United squad, with Amad Diallo the Portuguese’s preferred striker option in a system where Noussair Mazraoui is often used as a right-back.

The Daily Mail write that Antony is on the radar of Olympiacos, who could likely offer football to the Brazilian regular if he were to go on loan. However, he may have to subsidize United some of the high wages he secured when he moved in the summer of 2022 for a staggering £86m.

“Many clubs contacted us about Antony’s move in January,” Antony’s agent Junior Pedroso previously said of a possible exit.

“These clubs wanted to understand Antony’s situation, so I can confirm that there is concrete interest. I can say that Antony’s future is strongly tied to Manchester United’s interests. If the club thinks it would be a good idea to loan Antony out in January so that he gets more minutes and regains his confidence, we will work together on this option.”

Antony was brought to Old Trafford by former coach Erik ten Hag, under whom he impressed during his two-year spell at Ajax. But despite a promising start to his United career, which saw him score three goals in his first three Premier League games – the first player in the club’s history to ever achieve the feat – he failed to take off and found himself struggling The bank is often faced with an observation task.

La Liga side Real Betis have also been touted as a potential destination for Antony, while a move to the cash-rich Saudi Pro League has previously been mooted.

United are known to be willing to allow Antony to leave as long as the terms are favorable. After a difficult start to the season for both, Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee are also on the horizon. AC Milan are interested in Rashford, while Zirkzee is a transfer target for Juventus – Dusan Vlahovic has been touted as a potential replacement in any deal.
