Evan Ferguson available for loan transfer away from Brighton in January

According to The Pitch Prospect, Brighton will make Evan Ferguson available on loan in the January transfer window.

The striker recovered from an ankle injury at the start of the season and has had limited minutes since then.

Ferguson has only been named in Brighton’s starting XI three times this season.

Ferguson has made just one start for Brighton in the Premier League under new manager Fabian Hurzeler, scoring a single goal.

Danny Welbeck and Joao Pedro were the preferred options in the Seagulls’ attack alongside summer signing Georginio Rutter.

Ferguson can now leave the club on loan when the transfer market reopens in January.

This gives the 20-year-old the chance to gain more minutes in the final months of the current season.

Ferguson moved to the Premier League team from Irish club Bohemians in 2021, where he rose through the youth team.

He made his senior Brighton team debut in August 2021, aged 16, when he came on as a substitute in the 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Cardiff City.

The striker’s most successful season for the Seagulls to date was 2022/23, when he scored ten goals in 27 games in all competitions.

Ferguson scored a further six goals the previous season but missed the last two months with his ankle injury.

Brighton’s Premier League rivals Chelsea showed interest in signing the young Irishman earlier this year.

The Pitch Prospect reported in January that he was on the list of summer striker targets following his strong start to the 2023/24 season.

Ferguson could leave Brighton once the transfer market reopens

However, Brighton believed he was worth more than the £115million Chelsea spent on his former team-mate Moises Caicedo.

It was also understood that Ferguson was in no hurry to leave his current club, with Manchester United and Tottenham also previously interested.

However, Brighton could part ways with him temporarily in the coming weeks as he is not involved this season.

Given his quality and his 17 goals total for the Seagulls, a transfer battle between multiple clubs would come as no surprise.
