Declan Rice described Arsenal and England teammate Myles Lewis-Skelly as “fearless” after having made his full international debut against Albania.
A magnificent man through the ball of Jude Bellingham, who entered through three Albanian players, ended up at the feet of the resolved Lewis Skelly and he made no mistake to score the first goal of Thomas Tuchel’s England government.
An equally delicious finish of Harry Kane brought the game to the three lions, which never really had to get out of the first course, while Albania leaned back in a low block and tried to minimize every place that England could take out.
Lewis Skelly’s performance was one of the most important topics of the evening and built up on the vertebral storm for the 18-year-old for a few months. He is already in Arsenal’s side and keeps Riccardo Calafiori and Kieran Terney away and already seems to be one of the leading options in England with left-backs-a position that he stumbled into play as a central midfielder after growing up.
The way Lewis-Skelly behaves itself was highlighted by Declan Rice Declan Rice of Arsenal and England, which was confident that the boy would deliver again on the big stage.
“He is fearless, he makes everything straight away,” said Rice to ITV Sport. “He prepares himself. He is only 18 years old, I try to take care of myself as much as possible, but I knew that he would play this evening because he had trained in himself and the way he trained all week and what I saw in the club in the club.
“His mother, his father, his brothers, everyone should be so proud of him because his climb was unreal this year and he kept his feet on the ground. This is only the beginning for him.”
Lewis-Skelly stood next to rice and admitted that he was “lost for words” to have the opportunity to shine in Wembley for England. “I am just so grateful that the manager can trust me and my teammates played with great trust in me,” he said. “I’m so happy, I am lost for words.”
Tuchel was just as effective in his praise for Lewis Skelly and said: “He was amazing in the camp. He is full of confidence and very full of humor and so open and mature character.
“Everything you see on the field that you see from the square. He was immediately part of the group, it is very impressive. He does it with a natural self -confidence and so he plays football.
“It was a great performance and full courage, full of quality and even more so that he could be behind the line with his little run and in this game.”
