FIFA confirm UK set to host 2035 World Cup


The United Kingdom was effectively confirmed as the host of women of women in 2035, while the USA and Mexico jointly stage the competition 2031 of the competition.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that on Thursday at the 49th UEFA Congress in Belgrade they only received “a valid offer” for the next two available women. The tournament 2027 is staged in Brazil.

“I can confirm that we have received an offer for 2031 and a valid offer for 2035,” said Infantino. “The bid of 2031 comes from the USA and possibly some other Concacaf nations. The bid of 2035 comes from Europe from the home nations.

“So the way is there so that the Women’s World Championship 2031 and 2035 can strengthen women in some great countries in some great nations.”

Last year it was confirmed that the football associations of us and Mexico united their efforts to organize global competition. The men’s World Cup 2026 is staged in the USA, Mexico and Canada, although they grow the political tensions between the three North American nations.

Mark Bullingham, CEO of the English Football Association, was enthusiastic about the prospect of staging a first world of women on British soil. “It is an honor for us to be the only bidder for the FIFA women world championship 2035,” enthused Bullingham. “The first FIFA World Cup with our partners of our home nations has been something very special since 1966. The hard work now begins to put together the best possible bid by the end of the year.”

The official hosts will be confirmed and ratified at the FIFA Congress next year.

England reached the final of the Women’s World Championship 2023 and lost through a single goal against Spain and is the defending European champion.
