Gavi offers update on long-term Barcelona future amid Premier League links

Gavi has confirmed his commitment to Barcelona in view of the transfer interest of the Premier League and claims that he would like to retire with the Catalan giants.

The 20-year-old made a rapid promotion to Barcelona’s first team when he broke through during the 2021/22 campaign, but an ACL tear in November 2023 significantly disabled his development. Since his return to the field last October, the midfielder under Hansi Flick has not been a guaranteed starter who had the starting rumors in front of the summer transmission window.

Gavi, who was still highlighted in all competitions this season, has been associated with a Premier League step in the past few months, whereby Chelsea is particularly striving to sign the precious talent in accordance with a report.

After Gavi rejected Barcelona last month, he pushed the rumors of exit again when he spoke to Borussia Dortmund with the media before the upcoming quarter -finals of the Champions League.

“Of course I want to retire in Barca, but you never know,” said the Spaniard. “It is true that many things can happen in football and there are injuries, but I would register for it.”

Gavi signed a contract extension with Barcelona in January and his current deal will hold it with the Catalans by 2030. According to reports, an exciting publication clause of EUR 1 billion was included when the Youngster signed new terms.

The winner of the Kopa Trophy 2022 was on the player during the 1-1 draw of Barcelona with Real Betis on Saturday. However, since her opponents had suffered a surprising defeat against Valencia earlier a day, it was an enormous opportunity for Flick’s men.

Gavi will be desperate to be involved in the decisive European encounter on Wednesday, and has a strong chance that the starting line -up is currently being injured.
