Manchester United was “tight” signing Cole Palmer announced before his breakthrough of the first team in Manchester City and ultimately top -class transfer to Chelsea, one of the club’s former coaches.
Palmer grew up in Wythenshaw, the area south of the city, in which Marcus Rashford also grew up, an United fan. But he was discovered by Manchester City at the age of eight and instead competed on the blue half of the city.
The young striker drove his senior debut at the age of 18 in September 2020. “In the end, I think Manchester City made him a good offer. But really, he was always a Manchester United fan and it was still nearby, I remember that I spoke.
“I think City had to show him a little more love and this kind of things. We never completely brought it across the line, but it would have been nice if we had done it, right?”
