Chelsea strikers Sam Kerr and Mia Fishel will travel to Portugal for their club’s summer training camp as they continue their recovery from injuries.
Australia international Kerr has not been called up to Chelsea’s squad since January 2024 when she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Last month, head coach Sonia Bompastor said she expected the 31-year-old to return in either February or March.
American striker Fishel is also yet to feature for the west London team, having suffered the same injury in February 2024. Although both players will not be training with the rest of the squad and will instead continue their own recovery periods, their signing is a very promising step in the right direction.
The Blues currently sit at the top of the Women’s Super League (WSL) after collecting 28 points in the first half of the 2024/25 season, moving them six points ahead of Manchester City.

They also repeated their perfect start in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, reaching the quarter-finals and continuing a winning streak.
The team will now spend the next week training in Portugal in preparation for their first game of 2025, when they host Charlton Athletic in the fourth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at Kingsmeadow on January 12. They then return to WSL action on January 19 when they visit West Ham United, who sit third from bottom.
