It’s my last year at Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has once again insisted he is in his “final year” at Liverpool and stressed he wants to mark the occasion by winning the Premier League title.

Salah has reached the final six months of his contract and is not afraid to put public pressure on Liverpool. The Egypt international claimed back in November that he was “more out than in” and later insisted he was playing his “last game” against Manchester City at Anfield.

Now in the final six months of his existing contract, Salah is free to discuss a deal with clubs abroad. The 32-year-old claimed this in an interview with Sky sports news that his focus is on winning the title with Liverpool, but admitted his desire stems from the fact his time with the Reds is coming to an end.

“In my interviews over the last seven or eight years I have always said [I want to win the] Champions League. But this is the first time I’ve really said I want to win the Premier League with Liverpool,” he began.

Asked to explain why domestic success was more important to him now, Salah replied: “I have no idea. That’s probably because we didn’t celebrate our win the way we wanted and when I come back here it’s also my last year at the club, so you want to do something special for the city.”

The seriousness of Salah’s comments quickly became clear when the Egyptian was asked if he really believed this was his last year at Liverpool.

“So far, yes,” said Salah. “It’s the last six months.

“There is no progress there. We are a long way from progress. So we’ll just have to wait and see.”

“The thing in my head is, if this is the last six months, then what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say I was worried or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say “I had an incredible season?” That’s what’s going through my mind.

“If I ever feel distracted, I just remind myself that I want to look back and say I had an incredible season. That’s what I want to do.”
