Jayde Riviere pens new long-term Man Utd contract

Manchester United defender Jayde Riviere has signed a new contract that will keep her at the club until the summer of 2028, with the option of a further year.

The Canadian international joined the Red Devils in January 2023 and signed the first professional contract of her career. To date, she has played 32 matches in all competitions and has won 47 caps for her national team at the age of 23.

The right-back has been a fixture in Marc Skinner’s team this season with ten appearances so far. After ten games, United currently sit fourth in the WSL standings, seven points behind top rivals Chelsea.

Riviere told club media: “Every time I step on the pitch I feel the honor of being a Manchester United player, so I’m very happy that this journey continues.”

“Winning the FA Cup last season gave us all a taste of success and I will continue to do everything I can to give our fans more moments like this.”

Matt Johnson, interim head of women’s football, added: “Jayde is a talented young player who is ambitious, determined and has the potential to be world-class. She has already achieved a lot at a relatively young age, but we know there is more to come.” “Come and we look forward to her continuing her development at Manchester United.”

After the winter break, United returned to action at the weekend with a comfortable 7-0 win over West Brom in the fourth round of the FA Cup. This week the focus is back on the league as they prepare for a local derby away to Manchester City.
