Another transfer window is over and what a dramatic final day it was.
It was particularly dramatic for Jean-Philippe Mateta and Dwight McNeil, whose hopes of a move on deadline day were dashed.

Here we have all the fallout, including West Ham’s rejection of Jesse Lingard’s return, why Premier League clubs are pushing for a two-week window next year and Fulham’s summer plan to sign PSV Eindhoven frontman Ricardo Pepi.
No luck for Lingard
West Ham were among the Premier League clubs who rejected the possibility of re-signing Jesse Lingard in the final days of the transfer window.
Lingard made 16 loan appearances at the London Stadium in 2021, scoring nine goals and becoming a fan favorite.
The Pitch Prospect has been told Lingard would like to return to the Hammers but manager Nuno Espirito Santo preferred to push ahead with a move for former Wolves winger Adama Traore.
The 33-year-old is a free agent after spending the last two years playing for South Korean club FC Seoul.
It now looks likely that the former Manchester United and England star will join another overseas club.
Expected completion?
Premier League teams are prepared to push for a shorter January transfer window next year, according to The Pitch Prospect.
There is growing sentiment in boardrooms across the country that halving the traditional four-week window would ease the burden on managers at an already congested time of the season.
The risk would be that other major leagues would not join, leaving clubs at risk of poaching their players and being unable to replace them.
However, senior figures from some of England’s best teams believe this threat is minimal with the Premier League being the financial broker in every transfer window.
Any proposed change to the window would have to be voted on at the league’s shareholder meeting and would need at least 14 yes votes.

Summer Pep-i-Talk
Fulham plan to revive their interest in PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi in the summer.
The Cottagers were close to agreeing a deal worth more than £30m with PSV, but the Dutch giants pulled the plug in the final hours of the window after failing to find a suitable replacement.
Sources in the Netherlands claimed that Fulham were even willing to buy Pepi and loan him out for the rest of the season in a bid to secure the US international.
Craven Cottagers insiders told The Pitch Prospect they will look to revive the move at the end of the season.
Red Dragons denied
Big-spending Wrexham failed in a transfer deadline for Republic of Ireland international Festy Ebosele.
The former Derby youngster had agreed a loan move from Turkish club Basaksehir to the ambitious Championship club, brokered by former Reading and Ireland star Stephen Hunt.

Phil Parkinson saw the versatile full-back as having the opportunity to add an extra dimension to Wrexham’s quest for a play-off place.
However, Wrexham gave up their pursuit of 13-time Ireland international Ebosele after Basaksehir decided they would only approve a permanent contract at the 11Th Hour.
