The Black Cats are understood to value Bellingham at £20million.

Palace are keen to strengthen their squad this month and believe the 19-year-old fits the bill.

Bellingham moved from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023 and developed into a key player for the Championship giants.

After scoring seven goals in 47 games in his first season, the midfielder has been the star this season with four goals and three assists in 22 appearances.

His performances even caught the attention of superstars, and his brother Jude Bellingham was a regular spectator of his games for Sunderland.

For Palace, a move from Bellingham would be a continuation of a transfer strategy that has served them well in recent years.

Last January, the Eagles completed a £22m deal to sign Adam Wharton from Blackburn.

Like Bellingham, the young midfielder was one of the Championship’s hottest young talents and became an instant hit in the Premier League, even earning a call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad.

In recent years, Palace have regularly scouted the EFL for signings, recruiting Eberechi Eze from QPR and Michael Olise from Reading.

Meanwhile, Marc Guehi has signed from Chelsea following his successful loan spell at Swansea City.

However, Bellingham isn’t the only current championship star on their radar.

According to The Pitch Prospect, a £15million bid for talented winger Ben Doak was recently rejected by Palace.

The Liverpool star is currently on loan at Middlesbrough and has shone with two goals and six assists in 21 Championship games.

Ipswich then made a bid of £16 million, but this was also quickly rejected.

Arne Slot’s side are believed to be looking for offers in excess of £25m.

It currently remains to be seen whether either the Eagles or the Tractor Boys will return with improved offerings for young talent.
