Jordan Henderson in line for stunning Premier League return this summer


Sunderland is considering signing Jordan Henderson after winning the Premier League, Talksport understands.

The club-like Henderson watched the stands when the Black Cats defeated Sheffield United in the play-off final on Saturday.

The Sunderland hierarchy is aware that Henderson Ajax will probably leave this summer and believes that he would give its young team valuable experiences.

The English midfielder Henderson, 35 next month, will be opened as open to the Light stadium.

He started his career in the Sunderland Academy before broke into the picture of the first team in 2008.

Three years later he traveled to Liverpool and collected a full row of large trophies during his 12 years – winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Two League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

In 2023 Henderson completed a controversial change to the Saudi -Arabian side Al Ettifaq, but only spent six months in the Middle East before moving to Ajax.

He currently has a year that was appointed captain with the Dutch giants last year.

Ajax gave up a lead of nine points with five remaining games when they took second place behind PSV.

The former Sunderland striker and chairman Niall Quinn came to Sunderland’s promotion and asked the association to bring Henderson back.

“He went to Liverpool, the first year was really hard and a year later Jordan turned it all around and he had a big influence.

“To see how he lifts these Champions League trophy, I think that everyone in Sunderland was made very proud.”

Even last October, the former teammate of Sunderland, Darren Bent, had the feeling that he would return to the northeast.

“I still think that he could definitely do a job in the Premier League, 100 percent – he takes care of himself,” said Bent.

“I just have the feeling that back to Sunderland makes sense.

“This is his club, he started there, I played with him and I am sure that the fans would love him back.

“He had an incredible career when she looked back on what he won, what he did, he started for England, he made an incredible career.

“So I think it’s almost like a return for Sunderland fans, and I think that would be really nice for him to go there.”

In the meantime, Sunderland wants to keep Jobe Bellingham, who has had talks with Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund.
