Jose Mourinho responds to ‘ridiculous’ Cristiano Ronaldo rumours but makes ex-Real Madrid man an offer

Jose Mourinho has strongly rejected Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer links to Fenerbahce.

Ronaldo is in the final year of his contract at Al Nassr, where he is reportedly paid £173m a year.

The 39-year-old is free to negotiate a preliminary contract with another club from January.

Mourinho reportedly wanted to bring him to Turkey.

One such report stated that there had been contact between Mourinho and Ronaldo before a possible move.

He even reportedly asked, “Are you happy there?” There are rumors that you want to leave. If you leave, would you like to come to Fenerbahce?”

However, Mourinho himself has denied the allegations.

He said: “The news about Cristiano Ronaldo to Fenerbahçe is ridiculous.”

“Maybe Cristiano will come to Istanbul to eat because it is in the middle of the road between Saudi Arabia and Portugal. Or maybe he’ll come visit his old friend Jose, we can eat at my hotel!”

Mourinho managed Ronaldo at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, where they won LaLiga together in his second season.

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022 following his highly publicized departure from Manchester United, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract.

It was rumored that he will sign a new contract with the club. An extension would probably give the 39-year-old a similar amount to what he is receiving now.

Ronaldo turns 40 in February and recently passed the 900 career goals mark.

One of his goals is to reach 1000, but he says he will retire when he no longer enjoys the game.

“I just want to enjoy it [myself]” said Ronaldo. “Are you planning to retire? Whether it has to happen in a year or two… I don’t know. I’ll be 40 soon.

“I really want to enjoy it, as long as I’m motivated I’ll keep going. The day I don’t feel motivated, I will retire.”
