In the midst of Major League Soccer and Saudi Pro League, de Bruyne has now confirmed that at the end of the season he will call the time with City.

“When you see this, you will probably see where this is going,” an explanation on social media began. “So I will go into it directly and let you all know that this will be my last months as a Manchester City player.

“Football led me to all of me – and this city. I followed my dream without knowing that this time would change my life. This city. This club … gave me everything. I had no choice but to return everything! And we advise what – we won everything.

“Whether we like it or not, it is time to say goodbye. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele and I are grateful for what this place means for our family. ‘Manchester’ will be in the passes of our children – and especially in our hearts.

“This will always be our home. We cannot thank the city, the club, the employees, teammates, friends and the family for this 10-year journey. Every story ends. But that was definitely the best chapter. Let us enjoy these last moments together!”

De Bruyne came to City in the summer of 2015 and, as one of the biggest players, established himself in the history of the Premier League. The Belgium International has lifted six league titles and achieved 106 goals and 174 templates in 413 appearances for the club.
