De Bruyne is the latest top star to be targeted by Saudi Arabia, but the move could not happen until next year.

The Belgian is a target for Saudi Arabia, but De Bruyne’s club is demanding £100 million.

De Bruyne is in the final year of his City contract and the contract makers in Saudi Arabia are happy to wait until he is available on a free transfer next summer if necessary.

Al Ittihad, whose ranks include Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho, are also reportedly considering an offer for De Bruyne’s City teammate Ederson.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was the subject of interest from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, who have however withdrawn from the race for Ederson this summer after a £25million offer was rejected.

Any interested club will have to pay over £30 million this summer to sign Ederson, who is also in the final year of his contract at City.

The Pitch Prospect has also learned that Al Ittihad are considering approaching West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, but no formal offer has been made to him yet.

De Bruyne and Ederson were key players in City’s success under Pep Guardiola, with the pair spending nine and seven years at the club respectively.

Since Ederson arrived at the Etihad Stadium in 2017, he and De Bruyne have won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four Carabao Cups and a Champions League. Last season they also won a Super Cup and a Club World Cup, as well as two Community Shields.

Ederson could join De Bruyne at Al Ittihad this summer or next.

Meanwhile, Al Ittihad is expected to complete the signing of Moussa Diaby from Aston Villa next week.

The Pitch Prospect has learned that a five-year deal has been agreed with the French striker, who is now preparing for his medical with the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League champions.

Diaby is expected to join Al Ittihad in a deal valued at nearly £60 million.

Villa have been busy in the transfer window, signing seven players, including Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen and Hull star Jaden Philogene.

The Villans are preparing for next season’s Champions League campaign after finishing fourth in the last Premier League season.

When does the summer transfer window close?

The 2024 summer transfer window officially closes on Friday 30 August at 11pm UK time in the Premier League and 11:30pm in Scotland.

The Premier League has brought the deadline forward this year to align with the other major leagues in Europe.
