Kieran Trippier wants to quit Newcastle and Premier League club are already interested

Kieran Trippier wants to leave Newcastle before the end of the transfer window.

The defender has been playing at St. James’ Park since January 2022 but is keen to move as his role at the club is likely to diminish this season.

Trippier was the first signing under Saudi ownership and has played a key role in their rise over the past 18 months.

However, he sat on the bench in the 1-0 win against Southampton on Saturday and was not used as Tino Livramento played at right-back.

The Pitch Prospect reported in July that Newcastle were ready to sell the defender this summer.

Both AC Milan and clubs from Turkey have expressed interest, and Bayern Munich also remain an admirer of his after almost signing him in January.

However, The Athletic reports that Everton is now one of the clubs that would like to sign him.

Trippier was also replaced as Newcastle captain for this season, with Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes taking his place.

The 33-year-old has just 12 months left on his contract and this is likely the Magpies’ last chance to make money off him.

They paid around £12 million to sign him from Atletico Madrid, where he won the La Liga title under Diego Simeone.

Trippier started six of England’s seven Euro 2024 matches this summer, the only one in which he did not play being the 2-1 final defeat to Spain.

Just a month later, he was on Newcastle’s bench and this week he played in an U21 game in front of 1,000 spectators.

Last summer, the club signed Livramento from Southampton for up to £40 million as a future replacement for Trippier.

Now Everton could offer him an exit route this summer, as the right-back would work with Sean Dyche at Burnley.

The former Tottenham player also turns 34 next month.

Kieran Trippier reveals the good advice he gave his Newcastle and England teammate Anthony Gordon at the start of the season

When manager Eddie Howe was asked about Trippier in a recent press conference, he said: “I don’t think Kieran is openly considering a move.

“He trained very well this week and came back with the ambition to play and fight for his place, like every player does in pre-season. I see a player who is fully committed.”

“I see him as an important part of the team and the future team, but with the FFP currently affecting the club, there is still a possibility that someone will leave the club.”

“I won’t talk about individual players, but of course there will be arrivals and departures.”

Newcastle’s next game is an away match at Bournemouth on Sunday, kick-off is at 14:00.
