Kyle Walker nears Man City exit as loan deal agreed

Manchester City have agreed a loan Reports from France claim he will pen a deal with AC Milan that will send Kyle Walker to the Italian giants for the remainder of the season.

Pep Guardiola revealed the veteran full-back wanted to finish his career outside England after skipping it for the FA Cup defeat to Salford City earlier this month. Milan was almost immediately suggested as Walker’s most ardent suitor.

There were some brief suggestions that Inter would hijack the deal, but Milan went ahead and made their first formal offer for the 34-year-old, who quickly backed the move. Accordingly, the Serie A team has now reached an agreement with Manchester City L’Equipe.

The French publication claims that Milan have agreed a paid loan for Walker in the second half of the current campaign, which includes “an easily attainable purchase option”.

Walker may be in Milan as early as Wednesday (January 22) to complete his medical examinations and complete the procedure.

City wasted no time in introducing defensive reinforcements of their own. The contracts for Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis were both officially announced this week, while the defending champions have already signed a third centre-back of the month in Juma Bah from AIK Freetong.

Walker’s revered change of pace appears to have faded this season and Guardiola has not used him in a Premier League game since the late failure against Manchester United in mid-December. However, as Nathan Ake was quick to point out after being informed of the shocking development, Walker’s departure will be “massive” given his wealth of experience and intangible leadership qualities.

City’s new signings are considered some of the brightest young talents in world football, but Khusanov is the 20-year veteran of the trio.
