‘Landmark signing’ – WSL side expected to make stunning bid for two-time Ballon d’Or winner

The London City Lionesses are expected to look to sign two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas.

The 31-year-old currently plays for Barcelona but his contract expires in the summer.

Putellas is currently in the final year of her Barcelona contract.

However, there is an option to extend this contract for another year.

Putellas was spotted at Hayes Lane on Sunday to watch WSL side London City Lionesses’ 2-1 defeat to Man City.

Less than 24 hours ago, she helped Barca beat Real Madrid 2-0 and win the Spanish Women’s Super Cup.

The Pitch Prospect’s Shebahn Aherne revealed she has heard a game-changing signing is expected from the London City Lionesses.

Speaking on Weekend Sports Breakfast, she said: “We’re talking about Trinity Rodman. She signed off from Washington Spirit, a company owned by Michelle Kang, for a salary of $2 million a year. Absolutely incredible.”

“But I’ve heard rumors that London City, also owned by Michelle Kang, are expected to make a game-changing signing.

“Well, they’ve already done that, haven’t they? They’ve pushed the envelope quite a bit and added some big players.

But I think we’re talking about being worthy of the Ballon d’Or. Ballon d’Or winner, two-time Ballon d’Or winner, if it’s that person.”
