Paris Saint-Germain is perhaps the newly crowned masters in Europe and fresh from a 4-0-rout of Inter Miami at the Club World Championship, but even now Lionel Messi still orders the spotlight.
After the victory in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which was secured by goals by João Neves (2), Achraf Hakimi and his own goal from Tomás Avilés-Ein was a variety of PSG players who had been waiting in the tunnel to connect again with the man who once illuminated the parc of the Princes.
Ousmane Dembélé, who won a trophy Messi eight times as the leader for this year’s Ballon D’Or – was one of the first to hire the Argentine icon and stopped Messi’s Inter Miami shirt behind the scenes and snapped at a photo.
“Nice to see you again @leomessi, the greatest of all time,” wrote Dembélé, who played four seasons in Barcelona next to Messi. “I hope you continue to write history with @intermiamicf like in this world club.”
Also among the well-wishers: Messi’s former PSG teammate Gianluigi Donnarumma, Presnel Kimpembe and PSG boss Luis Enrique-Der Messi in Barcelona led during one of the most successful periods in the history of the club.
The couple worked together between 2014 and 2017 and won two titles in La Liga, three Copa del Rys, the Champions League and the World Cup – a gold era for both clubs and players.
A PSG player who didn’t get a moment after the game was Lucas Beraldo, but that didn’t prevent him from enjoying the occasion.

“Leo is a unique person. Share a game with him was great,” said the young Brazilian.
“I was a child who saw his magic on TV, so it’s unique.”
Even in a one-sided result, it was clear-as Messi in the building, everything else is just a secondary district.
