Liverpool have not made any new signings this summer, but they could be close to making progress in the transfer market.
The Pitch Prospect has learned that the Reds are currently in talks with Valencia over a possible transfer of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Alisson.

It is considered unlikely that the goalkeeper will move to Anfield this summer, as Alisson is expected to remain first choice next season.
As a result, Mamardashvili could move from his current employer to another Premier League team on loan, with Bournemouth among his possible destinations.
An immediate move to Anfield would not be possible under league rules, which state that clubs cannot buy a player and loan him to a team in the same league in the same transfer window.
The Georgian international made a name for himself at the 2024 European Championships, impressing as his national team reached the round of 16 at their first ever major tournament.
Mamardashvili played a key role in the tournament, finishing the group stage with 20 saves – seven more than any other goalkeeper in the tournament – including 11 in the 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic, for which he was named Man of the Match.
The 23-year-old’s performances in the summer have won him numerous admirers, including former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, who welcomes a possible move to Merseyside.
Speaking to The Pitch Prospect, Murphy said of the goalkeeper: “I actually saw him in the game where he made that incredible play against the Czech Republic.
“He was man of the match and made some incredible saves – one of which was, in many people’s eyes, the save of the tournament.”
“He is 1.98 m tall, agile and a very confident young goalkeeper. That would be a great signing.”
And Mamardashvili did not only shine on the international level.

Martin Zubimendi, who was courted by Real Sociedad, recently rejected a transfer to the English top club for 51 million pounds.
Meanwhile, the future of key trio Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold is shrouded in uncertainty as their contracts all expire at the end of this season and no agreement has yet been reached on an extension.
