The director of Wrexham, Kaleen Allyn, has confirmed that her family invested in Liverpool before she soon became minority shareholders of the future championship side.
Wrexham was led by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney and recently sealed their third action in a row and confirmed second place in the League -1 overall ranking to secure a place in the second stage next season.
The Allyns, whose medical devices, whom Allyn, was sold in 2015 for $ 2 billion (1.3 billion GBP), was part of this recent triumph after investing in the club at the end of last year. Kaleen confirmed the story of Wrexham to convince her to buy them.
“Even if we looked at other clubs, we said: ‘We want true partners with whoever we work together,'” said Kaleen to The athlete. “Yes, Liverpool is a great club and when we looked at it, we said: ‘This could be a great opportunity, but that’s not what we want.’
“We want to be true partners and make our hands dirty; part of the story what happens. That is the greatest honor.”
After the takeover of Reynolds and Mcelhenney, Wrexham’s history reached the international audience, which produced a popular documentary series. Welcome to Wrexhamto increase the club’s global reputation.
“We flown over Grandpa Bill because I wanted to show him what it was about,” Allyn said about the final decision to invest in Wrexham.
“When it went home, he almost stepped and screamed because he didn’t want to go. He said: ‘The municipality of Wrexham is the next thing I saw with which we grew up and what we lost in the state of New York.
“He went to the match and met Phil [Parkinson]who was very kind. My grandfather had seen Welcome to Wrexham. He was completely starked. He doesn’t care who is Ryan Reynolds or Rob Mcelhenney. But Phil Parkinson’s? He wanted his picture with Phil and this picture is framed on the wall in his house. “
