Liverpool rejected an attempt by Real Madrid to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold in January, according to The Pitch Prospect.
The Reds have made it clear that they are not prepared to accept the loss of Alexander-Arnold mid-season.

It is understood no numbers were discussed, but the move was immediately rejected.
Meanwhile, the player is also reportedly not interested in leaving immediately.
The English right-back’s contract expires at the end of the season.
However, if necessary, he can sign a pre-contract with Real as they are a foreign club.
Liverpool are still hoping to convince Alexander-Arnold to sign a new contract at Anfield.
The 26-year-old is one of three Reds top stars whose contract is expected to expire in the summer.
Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah’s contracts also expire in 2025.
However, the club is keen to sign new contracts and extend his stays at Anfield.
The latest news is that Liverpool are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League at the end of 2024.
They are ahead of unexpected high-flyers Nottingham Forest and nine ahead of traditional challengers Arsenal.

The club was revitalized by new coach Arne Slot, who moved to the club from Feyenoord in the summer, replacing long-serving Jürgen Klopp.
Along with Klopp, Alexander-Arnold was a key component in a team that won the Champions League in 2019 and a Premier League title in 2020.
He also won an FA Cup and a League Cup with the Merseysiders.
The defender came through the Liverpool academy and made his debut in 2016 after being tipped for success by club legend Steven Gerrard.
Since then he has played 243 Premier League games for the club, providing 62 assists and scoring 16 goals.
The 26-year-old is known for his technical ability, his ability to cross the ball from the right and handle set pieces.
Alexander-Arnold is the long-term target of Los Blancos, who currently need a new right-back.
Club legend Dani Carvajal suffered a torn cruciate ligament in October and versatile right winger Lucas Vazquez was his short-term replacement.
But even if 32-year-old Carvajal returns next season, there is a chance he could leave the Spanish giants.
Alexander-Arnold would likely receive a warm welcome in Madrid from fellow England international Jude Bellingham.
The pair appear to have developed a solid friendship, even though Bellingham was five years younger than him.
Before the 21-year-old moved to the Bernabeu, it was believed he could even find himself with his friend on Merseyside.

However, Liverpool now face a real battle to retain his services.
At the beginning of December, Alexander-Arnold gave an update on his future.
In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: “I’ve been at the club for 20 years now and have signed four or five contract extensions… and none of them have been made public.”
“It won’t be this one either.”
He also admitted that he is currently enjoying playing under Arne Slot.
The defender said: “From the first time I met him I knew I would enjoy playing under him and being a part of it.”

“I could tell he was obsessed with football and the level of detail was incredible.”
