Liverpool’s next five Premier League fixtures compared to Arsenal’s


Liverpool flexed their muscles at the summit of the Premier League again on Saturday as they put the town of Ipswich to the sword.

Arne Slot’s side maintained their six-point lead over title rivals Arsenal after an emphatic 4-1 win at Anfield, with Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai starring as the stalwart Reds continue to assert their dominance.

The Gunners were also in action on Saturday and were close winners in their trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Liverpool opened at least a nine-point gap at third place Nottingham Forest. The Reds know they also have a game in hand on their enemies.

Here are Liverpool’s next five Premier League games – and how they compare to Arsenal.

There are some banana skin fixtures on the horizon for Liverpool and their title credentials will be tested in February. You begin a challenging month with the long journey to Bournemouthwhich are one of the form sides of the division. The Cherries have scored nine points in their last two games against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest and Slot will have to be wary of the south coast outfit.

11 days later, things don’t get much easier as Liverpool are back on the road. However, their journey is much shorter on this occasion, with the Reds simply crossing Stanley Park to face Merseyside rivals Everton. The rearranged fixture will be Liverpool’s final trip to Goodison Park – barring an unlikely FA Cup meeting – and they will be tested by the resurgent Toffees.

Liverpool return to Anfield in mid-February as they welcome preferred opponents Wolves to Merseyside. The Reds have won 12 of their last 14 meetings with the Old Gold and have not lost in this game on home soil since a shock Cup defeat in 2017.

Mannstadt VS Liverpool has long felt like a cross-title fixture, but the Cityzens’ struggles in this term mean it isn’t quite as high-profile as previous years. Still, it will be an incredibly difficult task for the Reds, who have not won at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League since November 2015. A repeat of that 4-1 triumph would be welcomed by Slot.

Liverpool closes February with a determination that tends to produce a wealth of drama as well Newcastle Visit Merseyside. The early December meeting ended 3-3 at St James’ Park after an exciting second half, but the Magpies have not beaten the Reds since 2015/16 and are without a win at Anfield since 1995.

Liverpool are not the only team to relate to the reigning champions Mannstadt Pep Guardiola’s men dueling with Arsenal in the near future. The Gunners host their latest title rivals next weekend in a bid to at least extend their four-game unbeaten run against them. The victory would serve as a huge confidence boost for the rest of the campaign.

Pretty routine league events at Leicester City and at home West Ham United Follow, with the Gunners having already scored four against the Foxes and five against the Irons this season. Any slip-ups in these duels could prove disastrous.

Things will get more difficult for the Gunners in their final league game in February as they make the nerve-wracking journey to the town square to face off Nottingham Forest. The tricky trees are just three points behind Arsenal and have won three of their last four home meetings with the North London Giants.

Liverpool supporters will be in a strange position at the start of February as they cross their fingers in the hope of a Manchester United Victory. The misfiring Red Devils, who beat Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup in early January, welcome Mikel Arteta’s men to Old Trafford to take one over their historic rivals.
