Luka Modric confirms decision on Real Madrid future


Luka Modric has confirmed that he will not retire this summer and wants to end his career in Real Madrid’s books.

Modric remains an elite midfield talent, but after he had turned 39 at the beginning of the season, he has taken over more pairing for his club in recent years when manager Carlo Ancelotti builds the young core of Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavavinga.

One -year contract extensions were for Modric and, as after Fabrizio RomanoThe Croatia national player has a target for another 12 months in Santiago Bernabeu.

In a recent interview with TelephoneModric confirmed that he dreamed of retiring with Madrid, but insisted that he was not calling time for his career at the end of the current season.

“At the moment I am not thinking about retirement,” he said. “But as I always said, I would like to retire at Real Madrid, that would be a dream for me. We will see what happens.

“There is still a lot left over in the season, and I want to concentrate on what is left because there are still many games to play. I have no hurry to make a decision.”

Modric remains a central component of Ancelotti’s squad. This season he performed 44 times in all competitions, including 11 starts in La Liga and six in the Champions League and often wore the captain’s bracelet.

Reports have claimed that Modric’s future could be dictated by his willingness to stay in a rotation role, but the experienced midfielder seems to be pleased to continue to contribute to the ability he can.
