Man City progress in contract talks with Chelsea target

Manchester City does in contractual discussions with the graduate of the talented academy, Nico O’reilly, with regard to the interest of the Premier League rival Chelsea.

The versatile youngster, who played in midfield and in the left-back under Pep Guardiola, achieved an extremely impressive breakout season and even scored his first goal of the Premier League in the 5-2 victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The collision with the Eagles has been his ninth appearance since the year and it has proven to be particularly effective in the FA Cup.

O’Reilly met Salford City in the third round and proved to be transformative in the last two rounds with four goals in meetings with Plymouth Argyle and Bournemouth. He now enjoys a run of starting with left -backs and impresses with his attack performance in a less familiar role.

Chelsea was aimed at pulling her transformative Cole Palmer out of the city during the last winter window by targeting O’Reilly. But it seems that the blues will not have a chance to convince the 20-year-old to exchange Manchester for London.

According to the transfer expert Fabrizio RomanoCity “progress in talks” about a new deal for O’Reilly after his latest appearances, whereby the club has a new contract “confident” to ensure its long-term future in the Etihad Stadium. His current deal only runs in 2028 and there is “no rush” to bind the England Youth International to new conditions.

O’Relly’s presence at left-backs led to improved city exhibitions in the last games, and he was able to prove crucial in the pursuit of Champions League qualification and FA Cup-Ruhm.

According to this summer, City is reportedly a new left -back on the market, with the fate of Tottenham Hotspur’s fate as a potential goal. However, the emergence of O’Reilly has contributed to reducing her concerns in a number of defense injuries at short notice.
