Arsenal’s striving for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia was reportedly complicated by the rival interest by Manchester United and Barcelona.
Garcia was the top goalkeeper destination from Arsenal last summer when they wanted to replace Aaron Ramsdale.
It is expected that the Gunners will revive their interest in 23-year-old Garcia this summer, but another impressive individual campaign has grown his list of clients.
Marca State Barcelona has contacted Garcia’s representatives to make his interest known and asked the goalkeeper to give them the chance to achieve or improve an offer before concluding a decision about his future.
However, SPORT Believe that Barcelona is gaining a hard struggle for the race for Garcia’s signature, since Espanyol has no desire to negotiate his publication clause with the blue grana – something that sports director Fran Garagarza has already admitted that he would be open with other clubs this summer.
Espanyol would rather sell Garcia to the Premier League, where UTD was developed as an applicant next to Arsenal because they consider the future of the goalkeeper of Unterfeuer, Andre Onana.
The biggest threat could come from Bayer Leverkusen. Mundo Deportivo Enter the page of Xabi Alonso that made as much noise as Arsenal in her attempts to convince Garcia to join.
Garcia’s future will probably be solved early in the summer transfer window. His publication clause is € 25 million (£ 20.6 million), but will increase to € 30 million (24.8 million GBP) in the last 15 days of the window, and there is even reports that it could increase an additional € 5 million (€ 4.1 million) if Garcia receives an appeal to the Spanish national team.
