Manchester United star striker Amad Diallo has signed a new long-term contract with the club, locking in his future at Old Trafford until June 30, 2030.
The Ivory Coast international has enjoyed a productive upturn in form since the arrival of Ruben Amorim, thriving in the full-back role and as part of the front three. Amad scored his sixth goal of the season at Anfield on Sunday to earn a 2-2 draw against Liverpool.
The 22-year-old’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season – although the club always had the option of triggering a one-year extension – and he was reportedly the subject of interest from two other clubs.
“I’m really proud to have signed this new contract,” Amad told United’s official website after putting pen to paper. “I have already had some incredible moments with this club, but there is much more to come. I have big ambitions in the game and want to make history at Manchester United.”
“I have learned so much since I arrived here four years ago. I am very grateful to the coaches and staff who have helped me develop and the fans who push me forward every day.
“It has been a difficult season for everyone, but I firmly believe that we are on the right track and the future will be truly special. I’m ready to give everything to help the team and make our fans proud again.”
Manchester United technical director Jason Wilcox, who has taken on an increasingly involved role since the shock departure of sporting director Dan Ashworth, was full of praise for the young striker.
“Everyone is happy with Amad’s development. “His quality on the ball, his versatility and his determination make him a key element for the future of Manchester United,” said the Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers.
“The best years of his career lie ahead of him and we all look forward to helping Amad fulfill his immense potential and achieve success at the club in the coming seasons.”
