Man Utd midfielder expecting summer exit & reveals options for next move

Christian Eriksen has confirmed that he would expect it leave Manchester United at the end of the season with his contract in Old Trafford in the past few months.

Eriksen came to Free Agent in the summer of 2022 as Free Agent after achieving a remarkable professional comeback with Brentford in the first half of this year after an almost fatal cardiac arrest in the Euro 2020.

The Denmark legend was initially an important player, but has held more marginal role in the past 18 months, especially because of a combination of injuries and age than he hits the tail end of his career.

As a freelance agency, Eriksen spoke to the Danish publication Tip charging What comes next.

“My intention is not to stay in England,” said the 33-year-old.

“This situation differs from my time when I was a free agent after my cardiac arrest. At that time it was a matter of proving that I could still play. Now it is only a matter of waiting for the right opportunity and not making hasty decisions. If something feels right, I take it.”

Eriksen confirmed that there were no “fixed decisions” about where he could play in 2025/26: “Careers do not always follow a defined plan. I don’t have a checklist with things that I have to do – I will see what comes and what is best for me and my family.”

A possible return to Ajax, the club, in which Eriksen is known as a teenager for the first time, was not excluded and he keeps its options within less important parameters as open as possible.

The midfielder is not only preferred to leave England, and is also resistant and argues in the USA against Major League Soccer: “We won’t travel that far.” This could also rule out the Saudi Pro League or all other options outside of Europe.

Eriksen also has no desire to return home to Denmark and said it was “too early” and he “had good years abroad”, which at least suggests that it could be an option in the coming years.

“In Denmark, the players often return to concentrate on the family and end their career in this way, but I don’t feel there yet,” he said. “It’s all about football and where my career is now. To be honest, I spent more time abroad during my career than in Denmark, so that the move home has almost desire to draw on a new country. But we are not there yet.

“The move home is often more of a practical choice than a football. The love of the game remains the same, no matter where they play.

Eriksen was one of six United players who were able to leave this summer in addition to the much more youthful midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
