AC Milan have made a formal offer to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford on loan this month, according to a report.
Rashford is available for a transfer this month but is attracting more loan interest from multiple quarters across Europe given the high cost of a permanent sale.
The athlete State Rashford’s agents flew to Milan on Tuesday for negotiations with the Serie A side and that soon followed Gianluca Di Marzio‘S claim that Milan have made a formal offer.
Milan are said to have offered to take Rashford on loan initially as part of a deal that would give them the opportunity to sign him permanently at the end of the season – a format United could be tempted by at a reasonable price.
The biggest stumbling block in the negotiations is Rashford’s high wages, estimated at well over £300,000 a week. Such a figure is unattainable for Milan as they would need United’s consent to take a significant stake as part of an agreement.
This is also likely to be the case with other applicants, including Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, who are likely to consider a direct loan for Rashford without a permanent transfer clause.
Rashford may not be the only striker to leave United this month, with winger Antony attracting his own loan interest. Greek club Olympiacos are reportedly ready to offer him a platform to restart his stalled career, while Real Betis have been tipped to sign the Brazilian following the sale of Assane Diao to Como.
