Tyrell Malacia looks set to stay in Manchester after a last-minute intervention.

Malacia was about to board a plane to Türkiye before joining Besiktas on Monday.

Malacia is expected to remain with the Red Devils as they struggle with a lengthy injury list.

However, Red Devils director of football Jason Wilcox asked the left-back to turn around in the 11th minute.

United have few left-backs

Wilcox may have been inspired to act given United’s lack of fit left-backs.

Patrick Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury in United’s impressive 3-2 win over Arsenal. Red Devils interim coach Michael Carrick claimed the Dane would be “out for a while”.

Young talent Harry Amass is also sidelined after picking up a problem during a training session with Norwich, who he joined on loan in January.

Norwich manager Philippe Clement claimed on Saturday that Amass had suffered a “serious” injury and would be “out for a long time”.

With Luke Shaw the only other fit left-back at United, Malacia’s planned move to Besiktas may have been blocked to ensure there are enough players on deck.

How many times has Malacia played this season?

Malacia has made just one appearance for United this season, which came in the form of a two-minute cameo against Newcastle on Boxing Day.

He was an unused substitute on 13 other occasions in the league this season.
