However, Red Devils director of football Jason Wilcox asked the left-back to turn around in the 11th minute.
United have few left-backs
Wilcox may have been inspired to act given United’s lack of fit left-backs.
Patrick Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury in United’s impressive 3-2 win over Arsenal. Red Devils interim coach Michael Carrick claimed the Dane would be “out for a while”.
Young talent Harry Amass is also sidelined after picking up a problem during a training session with Norwich, who he joined on loan in January.
Norwich manager Philippe Clement claimed on Saturday that Amass had suffered a “serious” injury and would be “out for a long time”.
With Luke Shaw the only other fit left-back at United, Malacia’s planned move to Besiktas may have been blocked to ensure there are enough players on deck.
How many times has Malacia played this season?
Malacia has made just one appearance for United this season, which came in the form of a two-minute cameo against Newcastle on Boxing Day.
He was an unused substitute on 13 other occasions in the league this season.
Malacia will be a free agent this summer and United appear to have no desire to extend his stay.
The 26-year-old was also the only member of the club’s so-called ‘Bomb Squad’ not to move last summer.

Alejandro Garnacho and Antony managed to permanently exit from Chelsea and Real Betis respectively.
High-earning duo Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford also left Old Trafford, albeit temporarily, as they went on season-long loans to Aston Villa and Barcelona.
Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana also moved to Napoli and Trabzonspor on loan, respectively.
Malacia moved to United from Feyenoord in July 2022 but has had a largely forgettable spell with the English giants.
In total, he made 48 appearances across all competitions, 34 of which were in the starting eleven.
His time at Old Trafford was largely marred by injuries, forcing him to miss 70 games.

In the second half of the 2024/25 season, Malacia finally secured much-needed playing time on loan at PSV Eindhoven, where he made 12 appearances.
But the Dutchman will now likely have to wait for hours again as he cannot join Besiktas, who are fifth in the Turkish Süper Lig.
