Marcus Rashford returns as Thomas Tuchel names first England squad


Thomas Tuchel appointed his first squad as England manager. Marcus Rashford returns to the three Lions setups for the first time in 12 months.

Tuchel took responsibility after Gareth Southgat’s decision to step down after the euro in 2024 and, after the start in January, spoke the last two months to speak to players and to create his plans for his first squad.

One of the significant inclusions is Rashford, which rebels a career with Aston Villa. The versatile striker was last England in March 2024, whereupon his fights with Manchester United had left him out in Southgates troops.

The teammate of Villa, Morgan Rogers, does the cut, but there is no place for the wing player of Manchester City, Jack Grialish, who was dropped out of Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad before returning under Interims boss Lee Carsley.

Tuchel has decided to act Arsenal Youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly his first call to the senior squad, but there is still no place for 17-year-old wing player Ethan Nwaneri. The defender of Newcastle United, Dan Burn, also receives his first opportunity to represent England at the age of 32 at any level.

Burn meets United’s Harry Maguire. Maguire is a fixed favorite of Southgates and sometimes recorded Ruben Amorim’s side, but remains in the cold under Tuchel.

However, there is a return for Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson, who has not represented England since November 2023.

Tuchel’s reign as England Manager begins on March 21 with a qualification game of the World Cup at the Wembley Stadium, before Latvia took the English capital three days later on March 24th.
