The offer of Bayern Munich to recover the Champions League trophy hangs on a thread after they fell on a 2-1 defeat against the home floor in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Vincent Kompany’s team enjoyed almost 60%, but drove according to Lautaro Martinez’s glorious opener, and they did not convert any 20 shots until Thomas Müller arrived from the bank with a five -minute way to build a nervous final.
It looked like Bayern could find a winner, but Davide Frattesi punished the hosts during the break to achieve a big win for Inter.
How the game unfolds
Both sides started brightly and the first chance of the game came in. The French’s low journey was severely distracted and Joshua Kimmich’s following corner landed on Yann Sommer’s network.
Olises Kreuz then found Harry Kane in the six-yard box, but the Englishman always stretched out to reach a header that he could only lead into the hands of Sommer, who was undoubtedly the more busy of the two goalkeepers in the opening exchanges.
Bayern should have been in the lead for 26 minutes when her two creative forces were together. After a defensive mixture, Olise danced the Bundesliga side on the ball around a handful of defenders and lay down on Kane, who could not understand how he only managed to find the outside of the post up close.
The clear chances for Inter were a bonus for Inter, but Carlos Augusto almost snapped at the half -hour brand when he raced down the left wing, but he sent his efforts into his side if he might have better.
Fortunately for the side of series A, they didn’t have to wait much longer to break the Deadlock. An excellent team train culminated in a cross in Marcus Thuram, whose delightful tee was happily hit from the outside of Lautaro’s boots to put Inter’s upper break.
Bavaria threw everything forward in search of a balance and had sent back in the second half, but Simone Inzaghi’s side is not afraid of digging deeply defensive and making Bavaria incredibly hard for every centimeter space.
Kane shot a difficult volley far from the edge of the penalty area and replaced Müller a great chance in ten minutes that could not be denied five minutes later when he taped home on the back post.
It looked as if the two sides were intended for drawing, but only three minutes later Inter snapped when Frattesi bundled an electric switch to give the series a Giants a guided tour to defend themselves in the second leg of the next week.
When Jamal Musiala was injured this season, it is Thomas Müller who came to his side to replace him. It seemed certain that the 35-year-old would get the nod here just three days after confirming his upcoming departure, but that was not the case.
Instead of contacting Müller, Vincent Kompany Raphael Guerreiro used as an attacking midfielder who clearly searched for more energy than the aging ganger can deliver at his advanced age. The mobility was there, but Guerreiro could deliver something like the kind of Spark Müller.
The fans were audibly excited when Müller entered the fight for the last 20 minutes, and it wasn’t too long until he made his presence known through his team’s only goal. Ultimately, it was not very important, but you can’t help but ask yourself whether he would have had more influence if he had not been sniffed here for the start.
In this game, Inter had only admitted twice in the Champions League this season, none of which came in the meeting of the league phases with Arsenal and Manchester City. The series -A -giants don’t play in the back.
Alessandro Bastoni’s ability to undoubtedly shake a knee injury for Inter was not always perfect, but until the last five minutes the vast majority of Bavaria’s threat from Bavaria.
Inter are happy to sit deeply and to defend and to master the art of parking the bus in an attack style. Many teams fell badly of this tactic, and if Inter can progress into the next round, they will imagine their chances of another side of the competition.
When Inter opened the rating here, Harry Kane could have scored at least one goal.
An early header for Bayern’s top scorer was undeniably a difficult chance, but his miss in the middle half was an enormous surprise. When the goal was gap, Kane hit Sommer when he opened his body and rolled off from the Inter Stopper, but there was audible surprise when his efforts fell off the post.
There were only a few chances for Kane, but he has made a reputation to score the most unlikely chances. Unfortunately, his sights were out for Bayern.
