Arsenal saw a little further out of sight on Saturday evening, whereby Brentford left the Emirates stadium after a 1-1 draw with one point.
No side made masses of opportunities, but Thomas Partey gave Arsenal with her first attempt in the second half about an hour in the lead.
But the Gunners could not build on it and couldn’t really have a lot of complaints when Yoane Wissa had canceled this strike in the 74th minute with its own improvised finish.
How the game unfolds
It was a slow start from both teams in terms of creativity. Brentford quickly settled into a good rhythm, and Arsenal didn’t do much to test her. The threats threatened when Ethan Nwaneri blocked an attempt and parties header over the goal came to nothing.
The first clear chance went to the visiting bees in the middle of half, with the overlapping Kristoffer Ajer shot a low effort through the legs of the former Brentford stopper David Raya.
Arsenal then started the pace himself and had the ball on the net by Kieran Terney. But the left -back view was ruled off the side.
When half progress, Ajer went well to throw himself in front of a gatehing by Gabriel Martinelli, who had stolen himself in the box of a diagonal ball. Leandro Trossard later took out a pigeon that had landed on the lawn of the Emirate with a violent shot from Mark Flekken.
Arsenal kept this pressure as soon as the game was resumed after the interval. It was still no coincidence by chance, but they deserved the lead when Party came to the hour. The counterattack moved back to the front in a matter of seconds, starting when Raya claimed a corner in Brenford and quickly released. Declan Rice drove forward with the ball and delivered a cross to a non -marked Party, the strong side foot of which ripped off the back of the network.
Brentford had a promising opportunity with her own outlier begging and saw frustrating how Bryan Mbumo’s attempted intersection was easily cut out. But they got a second bite on the cherry from the resulting corner, which recycled the ball after an initial release and Wissa managed to bring it into the net while a cross came back into the box.
Arsenal finally had to end the game with ten players when Jorginho suffered a late blow and Mikel Areteta had already used all five permissible substitutions.
Take a look at Arsenal’s player reviews against Brentford.
Mikel Areta made five changes to the team that started 3-0 against Real Madrid during the week. Jurrien Timber, Martin Odegaard, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Mikel Merino all fell on the bench. So also Bukayo Saka.
Saka is not long back from a long-term thigh injury, and it is crucial that his fitness is crucial for the rest of the campaign for the Premier League, but if the Gunners are supposed to recognize a real chance of claiming a first champions League title.
In this game it seemed very clear that the domestic front no longer has its priority.
The rotation also meant a first Premier League start for Kieran Terney since May 2023, much to the delight of the fans in the stadium and online. The Scotland International will continue at the end of its contract, which will already return to the former Club Celtic.
After Arsenal’s greatest performance in the Emirates stage against the reigning European champions, the next could have been expected that the next one would be a bit flat.
It took a long time for it to go. A clear chance was at least and the canon looked pretty tedious when Brentford got their equalization.
The result means that Liverpool is clear ten points and only needs three more victories from their seven remaining games to mathematically claim the title of Premier League this season.
It starts with the visit of West Ham United on Sunday in Anfield, followed by an away day against a sad Leicester city on Easter Sunday. A week later, Liverpool was able to seal the title against Tottenham Hotspur when Arsenal no longer reduced any further points in the meantime.
Arsenal could be shared by it, hoping that their neighbors in North -London will do them a favor or just that Spurs know that the title will inevitably go to Angeld, regardless of whether this will be in the next three games or in the next seven.
Yoane Wissa is just the second Brentford player who participated 50 Premier League gate after his 41st goal in addition to nine templates.
Ivan Toney did not get that many for the club, with Bryan Mbumo the only other bee star that reached half a century since the promotion in 2021.
Wissa arrived from Lorient for only £ 8.5 million this summer and has proven to be an excellent servant.
