Chelsea captain Millie Bright signed a contract with the London Club by the summer of 2026, with the possibility of another year.
The 31-year-old has been in Chelsea for more than a decade after she was drawn by Doncaster Belles in 2014. So far, she has accumulated 280 appearances in all competitions and won several WSL titles as well as four FA trophies and two league cups during this time.
Bright is Chelseas the longest reigning player and was appointed captain of the team before the 2023/24 season, shortly after he had skipped England to the FIFA women’s world champion final this summer. Bright exceeded 80 upper limits for the lionesses after giving her senior debut for the national team in 2016, and was part of the historical euro winning team in the summer of 2022.
This season Bright will hope for Captain Chelsea on her first WSL title under the new manager Sonia Bombastor how you will start the way in the title race. You will also compete against Manchester City later this month in the League Cup final and deal with both the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Bright spoke to the Club website after getting the pen on paper, and said: “It was never a question for me to represent this club and continue our journey together. This club is my home. Chelsea is running through me. The legacy continues …”
Paul Green, the chief of Chelsea’s women’s football, added: “Millie is the leader of the team and our longest service. This expansion will bring you into your 12th season in the club, which is a great achievement.
“Millie leads to and next to the field with a good example and has been an important player for our success in the past ten years.
