Mohamed Salah admitted Arne Slots to concentrate on the attack, helped his sensational form this season.
The Egyptian was the driving force behind the Premier League title Triumph in Liverpool and scored a goal in the 5-1 victory on Sunday against Tottenham Hotspur to bring his season to 28 goals and 18 assists in 34 premier League outings for the season.
While Salah always belonged to the elite of the Premier League under the former Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp, the Egyptian in the Ballon d’Orge conversation has been forced since Slot in Anfield, with a significant tactical improvement behind his success.
“He’s pretty hard,” said Salah Sky Sport. “He made our life easier because he immediately knew what he wanted, what we did. I am glad that we won it here.”
When asked whether he thought Slot made him a better player, Salah admitted: “You can see the numbers. It seems that way. Now I don’t have to defend much.
“It’s pretty difficult to say one thing [that is different]But the tactics are very different. I said to him: “As long as you rest me defensively, I will be available aggressively. Try to rest as much as possible and I will show you the numbers. I am glad that I have done it.
“It was the manager’s idea, but I think he listened a lot. I spoke to him and you can see the numbers.
“It is quite difficult, because if you play in the Premier League, you also have to defend. I told him that I can play here and there, but if I get the ball, I am always free and can make the difference. I think the number of templates also shows that. It is not just about goals – it is about creating opportunities for the team.”
With the now completed title of Premier League, Salah’s individual focus will be on the assist record of the Premier League in the single season record by Thierry Henry and Kevin de Bruyne.
Salah only has to score three more goals in the four remaining lights from Liverpool against Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion and FA Cup finalist Crystal Palace.
