Mohamed Salah pokes fun at Virgil van Dijk over Liverpool contract

Mohamed Salah jokingly exerted pressure on the captain of Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk to sign a new contract with the club with him after further underlining its importance for the team on Sunday.

Van Dijk achieved Liverpool’s deceased winner against West Ham United in Anfield and brought the Premier League title another step closer – the Reds only need two more victories from six remaining games to ensure a second such triumph in 35 years.

During the celebrations of the 89th minute, van Dijk saw the Liverpool badge.

After months of speculation about his uncertain future and numerous public comments that they were wearing, Salah signed a new two -year contract last week. Van Dijk is still on course at the end of the season to become a free agent, although he is also expectant that he will also send fresh Liverpool terms.

Salah is probably already aware of what will happen and has made fun of his colleague before the fun Sky Sport Cameras after the West Ham game was over.

“I am glad that we managed to do it early before the end of the season, and hopefully Virgil will be next,” he said with a knowing smile. “I just say! Look, he can do what he wants, but I would like to see him here again next year.”

The comments laughed from van Dijk, who stood next to him when he spoke.

Liverpool started this season with three of the most important players of the Kaders-Salah, van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold-, who enter the last year of their respective contracts. But it looks very much as if only Alexander-Arnold is actually going through the open door.

The right -back is located in a completely different stage of his career as Salah and Van Dijk, one of whom was able to retire feasible as soon as they reached the end of these next deals in 2027.
