A non-League manager stayed close when he was asked for a shock for Andy Carroll.
The former striker of Newcastle and Liverpool is a free agent after leaving Bordeaux at the end of the 2024/25 season so that he could be closer to his family in England.

There were soon reports that Carroll connected to Chelsmford City, who played in the National League South, the sixth level of English football.
However, when the nine-time English international, Angelo Harrop, was pressed by the non-League newspaper about the alleged persecution of the club’s nine-time English international, he refused to reveal details.
“No comment,” said Harrop.
“I am very satisfied with what we have in mind. We have real quality, many young people, many players really hungry, which is great. They are all good age groups.
“We believe that there are a lot of development with all the players we have signed, and this is the DNA with which we will go. We have some young players who have already played many games.
“My only concern for us is that we have a brand new squad, so we have to knit together very quickly, and we will probably only run with a maximum of 17 or 18 players in the first team.
“But Rome was not built in one day. The football club has already made massive progress in the past two months. We are trying to build a real football club that will be successful for many years.”
City’s Mooted Swoop for Carroll comes after the club was put into operation this summer as a full -time club.
In a letter to the followers of the club in January, the chairman and majority owner Spencer Gore found the need to do things differently so that the team reached the status of the football league.
“In the ambitious striving for the club after reaching the EFL status, our board decided that, in order to give ourselves the best chance of success, we should make the formal assessment of what would take to work as a full-time soccer club,” said Gore.

Gore added: “This change will obviously require a significant increase in the club’s budget, which both Dan (Watkins, co -owners) and I are willing to support if we decide that it is the right time to take this significant step.”
In the last term, City took the 11th out of 24 teams in the National League South with 62 points, 17 outside of the play-off positions.
But the potential arrival of Carroll would undoubtedly give you a big boost in your advertising hopes for the coming season.
In 23 appearances in all competitions last season, Carroll achieved 11 goals for Bordeaux, which had relegated in the fourth stage of French football due to financial difficulties.
Although he was only € 1614 per month in Bordeaux, Carroll was lured by the offered “great project” and the opportunity to play for a large French club.
But Carroll’s adventure in Bordeaux took a season when the club thanked him for “his experience, his physical effect and his professionalism on his role every day”.

“From the field, he is an extraordinary and generous personality with which the club’s fans and employees were happy to work together,” added Bordeaux.
Should Carroll return to English football, it would be his first game in home soil for almost two years.
The outstanding striker organized a famous career in England and scored 54 goals in the Premier League in 248 games at Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham.
Magic in West Bromwich Albion and Reading followed before moving to the French side of Amiens in September 2023.
